Semantic Web-aware tools and technologies are around…
Annotating flickr images:
-
Enter
URL for some image you like
Select some regions on the picture and add descriptions for them
Generate file using „Show JSON-LD” button
Analyse the file. How regions' information is represented? Copy the source into the
report .
2 Common Vocabularies [10 minutes]
-
Answer the questions:
What is each vocabulary for?
What applications use them?
Browse thruogh more semantic vocabularies
here. Choose one vocabulary and describe it shortly in your report
.
3 FOAF [10 minutes]
-
Save your FOAF file. Put it in the report
.
Publish your file so that it can be referenced with
URL. Put the
URL into the report
-
Add more friends using their FOAF files. Visualize again.
4 Linked Open Data [20 minutes]
-
-
Analyze the
clickable LOD diagram, choose 5 datasets and in a few words describe them in the report (what information do they contain?)
Browse the following websites and get to know various Semantic Web tools and applications:
ConverterToRdf: which in your opinion are the most important? What Converter would you add (converting from what format)?
-
Sweet Tools: select one Annotator (tool for semantically annotating resources; you can simply put „Annotator” in search box) and describe it's capabilities.
-
Control questions
(Based on this lab and first lecture)
How one can add semantic annotation to a web page?
Explain the Semantic Web Stack of technologies.
What is the main syntax for RDF? What are its advantages over other syntaxes?
What is the role of the ontologies in the Semantic Web?
What are the 4 principles of Linked Data?
