WebCollab (GPL)

WebCollab ia a collaborative web-based system for projects and project management. The software is ideally suited to tracking multiple projects and innumerable small tasks across an organisation of any size. Particular attention has been paid to security (only one security report in seven years of use). Because of many years of daily production use WebCollab is robust and scalable.

Some notable user features in WebCollab include:

  • Easy to read and intuitive screen layouts,
  • Individual users are assigned rights and permissions (users can also be put into groups with controlled rights and permissions),
  • Projects and tasks progress and approaching deadlines are graphically highlighted,
  • Changes are personally highlighted for other users to see,
  • Changes and new items can be emailed to affected users.

In WebCollab tasks are the individual assignments within the project. Tasks are assigned to a user, and have a completion date. They can be classed as:

  • 'Planned' - Not yet started, and no fixed end date. Good for bookmarking future work.
  • 'New' - Set up, but maybe not assigned to anyone yet. Has an end date deadline.
  • 'Active'- Task underway, and has an end date deadline.
  • 'On Hold' - Can't be finished. No fixed end date.
  • 'Completed' - The user has completed the task.
